Barretstown

Children with a serious illness are often forced to grow up too quickly – Barretstown helps to give some of their childhood back. Research has shown that children who attend the ‘Serious Fun’ Camps, show improved confidence, higher self-esteem, and even a reduction in stress related to their illness decreased as a result of the camp experience.

But behind the very personal and life-changing impact that Barretstown has on these young people and their families, is a clearly defined strategy for success and growth.

It is fair to say that Barretstown had a truly exceptional year 2018. In 2018 alone, some of their biggest highlights included:

Providing life changing programmes to 8,339 children and their families through Residential and Outreach programmes

Exceeding their fundraising target by €1.1m, raising an astonishing total of €6.4million

Creating new corporate partnerships, welcoming 77 volunteer groups for site enhancement, forging charitable partnerships to maximise the effectiveness of their efforts

Leading the way in transparency and accountability, they are ‘thought leaders’ in charity governance, FRS102 compliant, with robust internal controls.

We congratulate Barretstown on this highly coveted accolade in the sector and commend them on the impact they have on children’s lives every day, not only just in 2018.

Congratulations to the other 2020 finalists:
