Ireland's largest registered charities - who are they & what do they do?

Consultant and Researcher Ann Swift looks at recent publicly accessible data related to Ireland's €14bn nonprofit sector.

In a recent article on her website, Charitites Institute Ireland Consultant member Ann Swift looks at nearly a decade of data manually harvested from the financial and narrative contents of the financial statements of more than 11,240 nonprofit entities - companies, friendly societies, trade unions, cooperatives, political parties and Statutory bodies. Collated and disseminated by Benefacts, which closed when support from the Department of Public Expenditure and Reform was withdrawn in March 2022, Ann highlights useful insights contained within the data.
