Procurement Officer

The Alzheimer Society of Ireland works across the country in the heart of local communities providing dementia specific services and supports and advocating for the rights and needs of all people living with dementia and their carers.

The ASI is currently recruiting for a Procurement Officer. This is a permanent contract working full time (35 hours per week). 

The Procurement Officer is expected to perform a full range of ongoing administrative, procurement, and office support functions to facilitate the efficient and effective operation for Procurement Services. They will lead and develop the procurement function within The Alzheimer Society of Ireland towards delivering a cost effective and proactive procurement service. 

The role will provide expert and specialist knowledge in all aspects of procurement and will have a comprehensive understanding of Irish and EU public procurement rules, guidelines, and regulations. The Procurement Officer will oversee and contribute to the achievement of The ASI's business plan objectives and procurement activities, ensuring that quality and value for money standards are maintained. They will oversee and ensure regulatory measures are met while focusing on providing strategic leadership for Procurement to yield efficiencies and savings for sustainable sourcing and to further develop and embed a best practice framework within The ASI. 

The role will ensure a full and professional service to internal customers is provided with strategic oversight to meet business needs and future proof requirements ensuring a high standard in the organisation.

Reporting to the Head of Finance, the Procurement Officer will be able to work individually as well as part of the team. 

To be successful in this role you will need:

• Proven working experience managing Procurement 

• Knowledge of sourcing and procurement techniques as well as dexterity in understanding the market

• Talent in negotiations, networking and supplier management

• Good knowledge of supplier or third-party management software

• Full clean driver's license
