Seal Rescue Ireland: Marketing & Media Manager

Background

Based in Courtown, Co Wexford, Seal Rescue Ireland (SRI) is a Registered Charity (RCN 20108519) that works around the clock to rescue, rehabilitate and release seal pups found sick, injured, or orphaned across the coast of Ireland. As the only seal rescue centre in the Republic of Ireland, they respond to reports nationwide and aim to rehabilitate the pups to full health so they can be returned to the wild. SRI promotes ocean conservation and sustainability through research, education, community outreach, and habitat restoration programmes, in order to protect our seas and all life within. SRI has a growing social media presence, with a current following in the millions, and is gaining international recognition for their work.

 

Position

SRI is currently accepting applications for the full-time role of Marketing and Media Manager, with a start date set for the beginning of November. This position is responsible for overseeing media activities across all of SRI's growing digital channels, and ensuring the production of quality, timely and engaging content relevant to our work in wildlife conservation and environmental stewardship. The candidate must have strong writing and design skills with the ability to delegate and multitask. The successful candidate will train and supervise interns and will work closely with the Executive Director and senior management to develop campaigns that deliver on SRI's fundraising and mission objectives. The role will be responsible for maintaining our website, increasing conversions and growing the organisation's online presence through continuous optimisation of SRI's digital channels and marketing presence.

 

Role Details

The Marketing and Media Manager position is full-time (40-hr per week) with a starting salary of €35,000. Employees at SRI benefit from the flexibility of blended working, which allows for plenty of on-site time in Courtown, Co. Wexford, as well as remote working. 

 

Requirements

  • Degree/Qualification or equivalent experience in Media, Digital Marketing, Communications, Public Relations or similar field.
  • Must be fluent in English (C1 Level).
  • A creative and analytical mind with good knowledge and understanding of the Irish media landscape.
  • Active social listening skills with the ability to follow digital trends, as well as, recognise and maximise on relevant opportunities for SRI.
  • Applicants must be organised and have the ability to work autonomously.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, an ability to manage a diverse workload, and operate within deadlines.
  • Strong photography and videography skills.
  • Design oriented, with proficiency in using Canva and the Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere Pro, Lightroom, Photoshop etc.).
  • Applicants must work well as part of a team and have strong leadership skills.
  • Must have strong professional writing skills, as well as adaptive communication skills based on contextual demands. Applicants must be confident in their communication style to be able to engage a wide variety of audiences.

Duties

  • Creating, implementing and managing on brand, end to end digital marketing campaigns (ie. pitching ideas, conducting research, developing a brief, creating and executing the campaign, analysing performance and reporting on campaign success).
  • Ensure all content produced by yourself, media assistants, and volunteers is in line with the brand guidelines and consistent in terms of style, tone of voice, and quality.
  • Perform administrative tasks (update and maintain the content calendar, filming protocol, media decks and stakeholder lists, etc.).
  • Manage the media inbox. Respond to media inquiries, content requests, influencer outreach, coordination of filming, and provide support to the Executive Director and senior management team on PR activities.
  • Engage with online communities and conduct social listening across SRI's digital media platforms.
  • Keep up to date with digital and social trends and developments. Take action as appropriate and ensure all of the media training resources are kept up to date. 
  • Coordinate, capture, and edit photos and videos of events and daily activities for use in media, marketing, and promotional purposes.
  • Develop educational and promotional written content, signage, and graphics.
  • Maintain and optimise SRI's website content for search engines. Maintain and optimise our Google Adwords, Google Analytics and email platforms.
  • Administrative and management tasks as needed to aid SRI in carrying out their mission.

 

Desired

  • Interest/experience in the field of environmental protection, wildlife, or marine conservation. Professional experience within the non-profit/charity sector.
  • SEO, SEM and website maintenance skills are preferred.
  • Fundraising experience.
  • Full and clean driving licence.
