Fundraising and Communications Manager Oesophageal Cancer Fund (OCF) Job Description 

Responsible to: CEO

Salary: DOE

Position: Full Time, Permanent (subject to successful completion of a 6-month probationary period)

Location: Main office in Stillorgan Co. Dublin with a hybrid working option available.

This role is key in managing Oesophageal Cancer Fund's Fundraising and Communications ambitions. Working in conjunction with the Community and Events Fundraising Manager.

To date the Oesophageal Cancer Fund has been reliant on community and event fundraising. The Fundraising and Communications Manager will actively identify, develop and manage new methods of fundraising in the areas of corporate fundraising, grant fundraising and individual giving fundraising. As well as manage organisational communications to include incoming enquiries, media enquiries, social media communications and website content management.

You will hold a leading role in managing the way the Oesophageal Cancer Fund interacts with our supporters and creates awareness of the work of the organisation through managing the organisations communications. So you'll need to be a great communicator; able to present and share information in creative, compelling ways that inspires others to support the cause. Bringing experience of planning and executing communications campaigns through the media, social media and the website. 

You will also work to manage and implement the fundraising strategy to identify new fundraising income streams, developing these new income streams on an operational basis. Bringing experience of planning, executing and evaluating fundraising approaches and overseeing fundraising budgets, KPI's. Ensuring that fundraising decision making is based on data and analytics. 

This is an opportunity for a hands-on, proactive, Fundraising and Communications Manager with a donor and supporter centred approach. Responsible for operationally executing the Oesophageal Cancer Fund's fundraising and communications strategy.

Main Duties and Responsibilities include:

Managing and Developing Fundraising Income Streams:

• Work to implement the fundraising strategy to identify new fundraising income streams in the areas of corporate fundraising, grant fundraising and individual giving fundraising. Developing these new income streams on an operational basis.  

• Manage and effectively track incoming donations and queries. 

• Provide effective supporter care, for corporate donors, grant makers and individual donors by letter, email, phone and face to face including development of supporter materials.

• Exemplify the highest standards of supporter care through effective communication from recruitment through to completion, acknowledging the support and fundraising efforts of our supporters and the gratitude of the charity.

• Coordinate relationships with external contractors as and when required to operationally implement the fundraising plan. 


Communications:

• Develop and implement an organisational communications strategy

• Effectively manage the organisation's communications, leading on plans for the organisation to increase awareness of Oesophageal Cancer and promote the charity's mission, and impact

• Produce creative, engaging communications materials, social media communications content and website content to promote understanding of the work of the charity and engage supporters to get involved and support the cause. 

• Act as first point of contact for all enquiries about the work of the charity.


Networking and representing the charity:

• Represent the organisation externally.

• Develop presentations and proposals for presentation to new donors, external partners and networks.

• Develop relationships with external partners and networks. Identify new networks to maximise fundraising opportunities by proactively approaching companies and individuals to fundraise for the charity and support them with their fundraising activity.

• Attend acknowledgement events with corporate donors, grant makers and individual donors representing the organisation and recognising donors' contributions to the cause.


Administration:

• Maintaining effective systems for planning, tracking and analysing fundraising campaigns and produce reports on the outcomes of each fundraising method through the CRM system.

• Administer and reconcile donations received through corporate, grant and individual fundraising. 

• Manage the website communications and ensure the information is up to date and provides accurate information to the public.

• Manage the social media communications plan in conjunction with the team.,

• Manage the implementation of operational and fundraising standards, policies and procedures for compliance.

• Manage ongoing GDPR compliance in consultation with the nominated staff member.

• Prepare reports as requested by the CEO to inform strategy and Board Meetings.


Fundraising and Communications Manager Oesophageal Cancer Fund (OCF) Person Specification 


Experience and knowledge

• Minimum 5 years' experience working in a fundraising/business development role.

• Experience of developing and managing new fundraising income stream.

• Experience of developing and managing organisational communications to include social media and website management skills.

• Experience of writing and presenting proposals.

• Experience of developing partnerships with other organisations.

• Experience using Salesforce or another CRM system.

• An excellent communicator, with the capability to confidently build and develop positive working relationships both within and outside an organisation.

• Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team in a high-paced and high-delivery environment.

• Excellent planning, prioritising, and organisational skills and able to take personal responsibility to deliver agreed outcomes

• Comfortable working to tight deadlines, and well-versed in working in a busy varied work environment with multiple projects.

• Strong IT skills to include experience with websites and social media platforms.

• An eye for detail, and consistency in delivering administrative tasks.

• Strong belief in and enthusiasm for the vision, mission and values of the Oesophageal Cancer Fund.


Access to a car and a clean driving licence is essential.
