The finance teams in many charities toil unappreciated in the back rooms of their organisations. This year’s worthy winners know that if they are to deliver the timely and accurate financial information necessary for good decision-making they need close relationships with their colleagues in the frontline.
During 2019 this Team set about building these relationships, as well as ensuring that their own plans were closely linked to the organisation’s overall strategy. In a busy year the team successfully migrated most paper files to a new finance system, introduced a program of cross-training to ensure cover when team members were absent, and developed a detailed task manual.
This work ensured that the Team continued to operate effectively in a year of great change, with a new CEO in place and with the Finance Manager on maternity leave.
