Charities Institute Ireland (Cii) has today announced the appointment of Áine Myler as its new Chief Executive.

Ms Myler is former Director General of of the Society of Chartered Surveyors Ireland and takes up her new role on 17 January 2022.

A highly experienced and well-regarded business leader, Áine has enjoyed sustained engagement with the Charities sector during her career, representing many not-for-profit & charitable organisations as a professional advisor, spokesperson, and board member.

Announcing the appointment, Cii Chair Lisa-Nicole Dunne said “the board, myself and the entire team at Charities Institute Ireland, are delighted to welcome Áine onboard. We are excited for the impact our members can make with Áine leading our programmes and plans to promote, support and enable charities to create positive social change. Charities have never been more important in our communities and society, and we believe Áine’s experience will be invaluable to Cii as we continue our vital work championing change.

We would like to take the opportunity to thank Liz Hughes, Áine’s predecessor, and also huge thanks to Mags McLoughlin for steering our organisation through this interim period”

Speaking on the announcement of her appointment Ms Myler said, “The past two years have shown us just how adaptable and resilient our charities are. Throughout the course of the pandemic, they have provided essential front-line services across the country where and when they were most needed.

I am delighted to be joining Charities Institute Ireland and look forward to working in partnership with the CII Board, the team and all of our members to promote and advance the importance and value of the charity sector to Ireland’s economy and society”

Cii was formed in 2016 following the merger on ICTR and Fundraising Ireland, two key players in the non profit sector, who combined to create a strong voice for high impact fundraising charities, and the wider not-for-profit sector. Cii is focused on raising standards in the industry, enabling best practice fundraising education and development, and promoting greater transparency and integrity across the sector.
