Title of post: Fundraising Assistant

Location: Dublin

Full time position, One Year initial contract.

About Us: Peter McVerry Trust, is a national housing and homeless charity. Founded in Dublin in 1983 by Fr Peter McVerry, the charity is now the largest provider of homeless support services in Ireland, and works across 28 local authority areas.

About the Role: As Fundraising Assistant, you will be a core part of the team working to deliver Peter McVerry Trust’s fundraising targets, in line with the 2021-2025 Fundraising & Marketing Strategy. The successful candidate will work with the Fundraising and Donor Care teams to ensure effective fundraising activities and appeals, supporting donors and fundraisers with best practice fundraising activities. The role will provide experience across key areas such as individual giving, corporate fundraising, events and community fundraising, delivering the highest level of donor care at all times.

The position would suit a candidate who is interested in gaining or developing experience with a not-for-profit and a leading national charity tackling homelessness in Ireland. The role will offer experience across a broad range of fundraising tasks and areas within a dynamic and motivated fundraising team.

Our Fundraising Strategy: Peter McVerry Trust is currently developing ambitious plans to substantially increase its supporter base and further grow sustainable sources of income to support the organisation's Strategic Plan 2021 – 2025. The Fundraising Assistant will work with other members of the fundraising team to support delivery of these plans, working to maximise sustainable fundraising income through individual giving campaigns.

Key Role Responsibilities:

  • Fundraising Communications: assist in implementing direct marketing campaigns, and individual giving appeals, including surveys and day to day donor communications.
  • Fundraising Activities; monitor and review fundraising activity to ensure best practice events & activities in line with PMVT policies and procedures.
  • Donor Care Administration: support the Donor Care Team at key campaign and appeal times with administration duties, including dealing with enquiries and donations.
  • Assist the Events Manager with the organisation, administration and execution of key PMVT and 3rd party events, such as Gala Ball, Carol Concert and Challenge Events.
  • Provide assistance to the Corporate Team during key campaigns such as the Corporate Christmas Appeal.
  • Provide support to the Community Fundraiser to further develop relationships with community groups, organisations, churches and schools.
  • Ensure all activities comply with PMVT’s Fundraising Policies and Procedures, as well as legislation governing charity activity.
  • Any other duties as identified by your line manager. 

Requirements:

  • Qualifications/ Experience
  • Third level qualification
  • Previous experience within a fundraising or voluntary sector role would be an advantage.
  • Excellent communication skills – written, and verbal.
  • Strong teamwork skills, and flexibility to work with different colleagues on projects.
  • Experience of customer/donor databases.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Highly motivated, with the ability to prioritise work and meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrate excellent customer/donor care.
  • Willing to attend fundraising events outside of normal working hours – evenings, weekends, and bank holidays.
  • Flexibility and adaptability and a willingness to take on additional duties.
  • Commitment to the mission and objectives of Peter McVerry Trust.
