As the representative body for Ireland’s leading and professional charities, Cii will host the only Irish screening of a new film ‘Uncharitable’, on 28th September 2023 in the Irish Film Institute.
Based on Dan Pallotta’s work championing the charity sector, the film covers his long-running campaign in the US to change perceptions about indirect/overhead costs. Directed by Stephen Gyllenhaal and featuring actor Ed Norton, the film provides us with the opportunity to look at this topic anew in an Irish context.
There is considerable benefit for everyone that charities operate effectively, efficiently and in full compliance with regulations and laws. Investing in solid operating structures and systems is vital to the success of a charity’s efforts. Unfortunately, ill-informed criticism and insufficient funding of overhead costs has led to many charities under-investing in key areas. We believe it is crucial now to come together and consider how we change the narrative.
Following the screening, we will host a panel discussion with Susan McQuaid O’Dwyer, CEO of Make a Wish Ireland and Chair of Cii, Aisling Fitzgerald, Head of Not-for-Profit Assurance Practice at PWC, Jim Deignan CEO of Payzone, and Breda O'Malley, Partner at Hayes Solicitors LLP to share their insights and perspective on this important topic.
*Bookings are limited to Senior Executives, Board Trustees, Charity Partners and funders.
