Cii hold meeting with Minister & Department of Justice officials on Gambling Regulation Bill

Cii with a delegation of members meet with Minister of State, James Browne and Department of Justice officials.

Following our recent campaign to raise members’ serious concerns about this draft legislation, we drafted a Briefing Document and met with Minister of State, James Browne and Department of Justice officials with a delegation of Cii members.  Over the course of a lengthy meeting, we outlined our concerns and what we believe will be the unintended consequences of this legislation on fundraising charities.

The increased burden of regulation on our sector was also highlighted.

We will shortly issue a survey to members to assess how this legislation could impact fundraising goals and we will submit these findings to the Department.  We will also meet with the Select Committee members to create awareness and build support for our position.

Thanks to all the members who joined us at the recent meeting and we’ll keep you updated in the coming weeks.
