Charities Institute Ireland, The Wheel and Mason Hayes Curran appear before Oireachtas Committee

Cii Chief Executive Áine Myler appears before the Oireachtas Joint Committee on Social Protection, Community and Rural Development and the Islands

In June 2022, Charities Institute Ireland held a joint briefing with The Wheel on the Charities Amendment Bill and its implications for charities in Ireland. The event also included valuable legal input from Mason, Hayes and Curran.

More than 330 representatives from the sector attended the briefing and contributed analysis and comments. The following day a detailed submission to the Department of Rural and Community Development was made - view submission here: Charities Amendment Bill Submission 2022

Today our Chief Executive Áine Myler appeared before the Oireachtas Joint Committee on Social Protection, Community and Rural Development and the Islands alongside a representative from the Wheel and Mason Hayes Curran to discuss the "The General Scheme of the Charities (Amendment) Bill 2022”.

This proposed legislation will have a significant impact on our sector. It includes proposed changes to the duties of trustees and the statutory functions of the Charities Regulator, among other measures.
