Director of Grants and Development – Irish Youth Foundation

The Irish Youth Foundation  was founded in 1985 as an independent charitable trust dedicated exclusively to meeting the needs of vulnerable children and young people living in disadvantaged circumstances. Whenever possible IYF seeks to address the underlying causes of poverty, educational disadvantage, homelessness and social exclusion experienced by children and young people.We are seeking an exceptional candidate to join the team as Director of Grants & Development.   

This is a key senior management position within the Irish Youth Foundation. Working closely with the Chief Executive, the Director of Grants and Development role encompasses the following.

Grants and Impact Development Strategy

  • Work closely with CEO and Board in the development of a grants strategy for The Irish Youth Foundation that is aligned with the organisation mission and vision.

  • Broaden IYF’s innovation strategy by generating new ideas and developing pilot programmes to attract additional Corporate partners.

  • Evaluate the impact of current grant making programs and make recommendations to the Chief Executive.

  • Develop a reporting template that highlights the positive social impact created as a result of IYF programmes.

  • Compile IYF programme impact reports that;

    • Strengthens IYF case for support.

    • Assists IYF fundraising pitch preparation.

    • Supports communications plan.

  • Link between youth sector and funders. Point of contact with new projects and programme leaders that IYF supports and identify potential new projects/leaders.

  • Maintain a timetable of deadlines to ensure donors receive reports and other correspondence as required.

  • Plan and organise opportunities for IYF supporters to experience IYF work first hand, through visits to our services, ensuring that all relevant safeguarding and risk assessment measures are taken.

  • Work closely with CEO in funding pitches and presentations.

  • Assist the finance function in monitoring the investment of IYF funds.

  • Working with colleagues create ‘gold standard’ and robust cases for support.

  • Oversee the application processes including recruiting judging panels, entry forms, reporting requirements, and follow-up procedures for IYF Fund Grant Rounds.

Fundraising development and relationship building

  • Identify new opportunities and build on existing achievements to date. Develop strategies for raising income from trusts, foundations and corporates ensuring that applications are closely aligned to the objective of the funder and that they meet IYF aims and objectives.

  • Establish a strong trust/foundations and major grants pipeline and develop personalised relationships with these.

  • Relationship development and management of key CSR partners.

  • Responsibility for reporting on grants, including the management of data required for measurement and evaluation.

  • Prepare accurate and meaningful reports for funding partners of the Foundation including individual philanthropists and corporate partners.

Profile Building:

  • Active participation in the CSR community explaining the mission of the IYF and presenting the case for support.

  • Attend community events at which IYF should be present.

  • Be a representative for the charity at networking events where required and effectively engage with all stakeholders.

  • Represent IYF to donors and potential donors, through face to face meetings, knowledgeably and passionately outlining IYF’s achievements and the urgent need for our work.

  • Maintain excellent knowledge of grant giving bodies, the charity sector and trends, identifying and capitalising on relevant opportunities for IYF.

  • Ensure CEO, work colleagues and Board are kept abreast of our service development and projects supported and fully understand the cause so that they can promote the importance of supporting the projects that we do.

  • Work with the chief executive on the development, planning and implementation of the IYF fundraising and communications strategy.

  • When required, carry out any other tasks to meet the needs of the Foundation as directed by the Chief Executive.

Skills and Experience:

  • Experience or knowledge of programme development/ philanthropic grant making body advantageous but not essential.

  • Experience in corporate fundraising and relationship management essential.

  • Passionate about making a positive difference in lives of young people/children/youth sector.

  • Experienced and confident networker.

  • Knowledge of CSR landscape in Ireland.

  • Excellent marketing, communication and presentation skills.

  • Understanding of charity landscape and good governance.

  • Team player, adaptable, proactive.

  • Leadership qualities, committed to supporting development other team members

  • Competent on social media and other digital channels.

 

This is a full time role and will be based in IYF offices in Dublin. Salary details available on application.
