Assistive Technology Manager – CHIME

Balmer Recruitment Ltd. has been retained by CHIME - the national charity for deafness and hearing loss, to seek a suitably qualified Assistive Technology Manager to join their newly restructured team.

Chime operates through a number of resource centres throughout the country and it is their aim to limit the impact of deafness and hearing loss through the provision of Advice & Information, Care Services and Assistive Technology.

Reporting to the Operations Director, the Assistive Technology Manager will manage a newly created team combining their current Hearing Aid, SchoolTech and DeafTech Services. This is the primary leadership position for the delivery of Assistive Technology Services both centrally and through their resource centres including the provision of hearing aids, personal appliances and equipment used in schools and other venues using a holistic-focused and client-centred approach.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Promote and develop the provision of assistive technology to maximise reach for personal use, use in schools/public places or for use in the home

  • Ensure products and services are delivered in a professional, customer centric manner to exceed client’s expectations

  • Ensure to maximise the commercial performance of the existing products service across all current channels

  • Grow the delivery of the Assistive Technology by proactively sourcing or developing new products and services as required

  • Develop budgets, business cases and financial plans to achieve desired results

  • Set and manage price points and pricing plans for the product range

  • Provide a professional technical support and comprehensive aftersales service for all products

  • Manage returns, repair and service of products in a professional manner

  • Operate in a collaborative and effective partnership approach with external organisations

  • Proactively manage a newly formed team of 8-10 staff to include audiologists, technical product staff and administration

  • Ensure excellence in recruitment, training, professional development and performance management for the team

  • Develop targets and performance plans to ensure commercial targets are met

  • Lead the Assistive Technology function in implementing a recognized quality accredited programme such as Q Mark

  • Ensure proper systems of reporting and operational control are in place such as client referral procedures and pathways

  • Provision of accurate and timely reports as required

  • Overall responsibility for the procurement and stock control of all products sold through this function

  • Management of all financial procedures delivered by the team to include collection of payments for products and services

  • Collaborate with marketing executives to develop lead generation plans

  • Monitor competition, economic indicators and industry trends

  • Ensure the organisation locations are presented in excellent condition to achieve client satisfaction

  • Ensure statutory and regulatory requirements are adhered to including GDPR

  • Ensure Chime maintains excellent working relationships with key stakeholders including HSE offices, schools, Department of Education, Department of Social Protection, hearing aid and product suppliers

  • Participation at trade shows and conferences

  • Development and provision of product trainings

  • Work with the Care team to ensure all clinical requirements are met

Key Requirements include:

  • Relevant University Degree / Diploma

  • Minimum 3-5 years experience in a similar role

  • Demonstrable ability to evaluate information and make effective decisions especially with regard to service user care

  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills

  • Willingness to develop IT skills relevant to the role

  • Demonstrate willingness to continuing professional development

  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office (in particular Word, Excel and Outlook)

  • Excellent organisational and prioritisation skills

  • Commercially focused

 Location:

  • This role will be based in the organisation’s head office in Dublin however travel will be required from time to time.

Salary:

The salary on offer will be commensurate with experience
