Job Purpose:

The Digital Marketing Specialist: Supporter Care & Retention will play an important role on the Fundraising & Communications team, engaging with public supporters to encourage commitment to Galway Simon Community and driving repeat support.

This is a technical marketing role that requires knowledge of digital marketing and marketing automation as well as demonstrable experience in the use of data analytics to facilitate evidence-based decision-making. The successful candidate will develop and implement an integrated, multi-channel communications strategy with measurable KPIs, based on robust data analysis, segmentation and customer journey mapping to increase Galway Simon’s supporter base and to drive retention.

Main duties & Responsibilities:

Marketing Automation:

  • Develop personas and undertake supporter journey mapping for all categories of supporters, including individual donors, regular givers, community fundraisers, corporate supporters, major donors (existing and prospects) across all relevant channels and platforms.

  • Work with the Campaigns & Communications Coordinator to integrate and optimise the use of marketing automation through all stages of supporter journeys from lead generation through to nurturing, converting and ultimately retaining supporters.

  • Initiate and test innovative approaches to fundraise digitally e.g. Facebook/ Instagram birthday campaigns.

Content Marketing:

  • Develop ongoing content schedule to attract donors, and engage them through clear and measurable CTAs (calls to action), from managing website, social media content and quarterly update newsletters with strong impact stories (including client and supporter testimonials), to creating donor care materials, welcome packs and report back videos.

  • Plan and implement specific marketing and communication campaigns to support the Fundraising strategy e.g. targeted legacy and tax incentive campaigns.

  • Coordinate agency partners where appropriate e.g. creative and media agencies, to ensure all communications activity is integrated and delivers value for the organisation.

Data Analytics:

  • Establish funnel KPIs and undertake in-depth data analysis and weekly reporting on KPIs

  • Track campaign and donor activity; measure results, generate reports

  • Work closely with the Development Team, providing timely data and insights to inform decision-making and the creation of actionable plans to drive lead generation with prospective donors

  • Review segmentation of the database and develop plans to increase numbers of highest giving donors by reactivation and upgrade.

  • Develop insights from Google Analytics and research to inform supporter communications decisions and maximise impact of same

  • Issue and analyse donor satisfaction survey (online and post)

  • Organise supporter engagement events & cultivation visits

Person specification:

  • A 3rd level qualification in Marketing / Business / Digital Marketing, together with strong working knowledge of Google Analytics and Database analytics.

  • 2+ years Digital Marketing Experience

  • Excellent IT/systems experience with a willingness to learn new technologies.

  • Experience in editing and updating website content

  • Proven track-record in a busy Marketing Team.

  • Ability to lead on various marketing related projects

  • A demonstrated track record in data analytics and data interrogation; and using data analysis to inform decision making

  • Experience in planning and executing integrated marketing campaigns.

  • Graphic design and/or photo/video editing skills would be a distinct advantage.

  • Goal orientated and a natural troubleshooter with a strong attention to detail.

  • Confident, warm and engaging personality with a can-do, proactive and innovative approach

  • Ambitious, creative and love what you do, to make a real social impact through this role
