Head of Operations

Reporting To:                   Chief Executive Officer
Hours of Work:                 Full-Time (37 hours per week)
Salary Scale:                     €65,812 - €76,720 (Depending on experience)
In line with Health Sector pay scales clerical admin management Grade VIII

Contract Type:                  Permanent

We are seeking to recruit a Head of Operations who will be responsible for leading and managing a comprehensive array of services and programs across LauraLynn Ireland’s Children’s Hospice (LauraLynn Hospice & The Children’s Sunshine Home Disability Service). Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the post holder will review on an ongoing basis services being offered and develop new programs as needs emerge and growth demands. He/she will hold full corporate responsibility and accountability for the core operations of LauraLynn. The Head of Operations will inform the CEO of all program issues and accomplishments and will provide summary reporting to the Board of Directors. The post holder will be a member of the executive management team. LauraLynn offers 24 hour care and therefore the Head of Operations is required to be flexible to meet the needs and responsibilities of the role.  Occasional weekend and evening work may be required.  The ideal candidate will possess the following:

Essential Qualifications & Experience

  • A minimum of 3 year’s senior managerial/leadership experience within the last 5 years in healthcare operations role in a healthcare or relevant organisation or proven track record in general management, ideally in healthcare or other professions driven service industry
  • Degree in healthcare management or equivalent qualification or possession of a relevant healthcare clinical programme - 3rd level qualification is essential
  • Experience of managing significant change
  • Experience in working at a senior level in multidisciplinary teams
  • Experience of working in partnership cross- agency and/or cross sectoral working 

Desirable Experience

  • Evidence of leading or having a significant role in public service related area
  • Knowledge and experience of procurement and negotiation of contracts
  • Professional qualification in healthcare profession (Medicine, Nursing or Health and Social Care Professional) is an advantage
