Job Purpose
To deliver Barnardos Communications Strategy in line with the organisation strategy. To lead and guide the way Barnardos communicates with different audiences (both external and internal) and to carry out activities that will build and develop knowledge of Barnardos work with children and families to drive support from the public.
Core Job Requirements
· Lead and manage the in-house Communications team covering media relations, digital and content development.
· Work closely with Barnardos senior management team to contribute to the strategic growth and development of the organisation and to provide communications advice, marketing advice, guidance and support.
· Develop communications and marketing plans and strategies to support delivery of Barnardos mission and vision.
· Protect Barnardos' reputation by working to identify risk and manage crisis communications.
· Build awareness of Barnardos work and voice nationally and regionally by:
· Work with teams across Barnardos to develop integrated campaigns and to co-ordinate the messages/tone and look and feel of communications.
· Work in a proactive way with other organisations and agencies.

Experience
- 5 years' experience in a communications role.
- Experience of managing a communications department/team – both media and digital functions.
Qualifications
· Third level qualification in Communications/Marketing or related subject.
Full driving licence and access to the use of a suitably insured car essential as national travel is required in line with the needs of the role.
