Manager, Family Centre

Contract: Permanent Contract, Full Time 

Location: 53 Mountjoy Street, Phibsbrough, Dublin 7

The Family Centre Service has been designed to meet the needs of homeless families by providing professional services, access to food, respite and access to advice and information. The service provides a safe environment which facilitates social inclusion and enables customers to become more involved in services.

Reporting to the Head of Family Services, the Manager will support and manage Focus Ireland's Family Centre in North Dublin, comprising of Case managers, Child Support Workers, Project Workers, and auxiliary staff.

What you will do:

  • To provide leadership and direction to the Family Case Management, Prevention, Child Support Worker teams and floor staff teams.
  • To lead the delivery of a dedicated, advice, advocacy and support service to families at risk of homelessness in order to prevent them entering homeless services. To ensure adequate extra linkages with community, voluntary and statutory resources.
  • Implement project and agency policies and procedures, including child safeguarding, complaints, confidentiality, health and safety, housing, and human resource policies.
  • To effectively maintain, develop and support staff performance, morale, and motivation.
  • Manage the performance of staff in the projects by upholding best practice in human resourcing and performance management, and by complying with legal requirements in relation to employment/recruitment, supervision, health and safety and welfare, training and development.
  • To liaise with, work co-operatively and effectively with other sections and divisions in Focus Ireland in relation to company procedures and policies in areas such as personnel, finance and administration, research, development, education, public awareness, and services.
  • To implement financial management systems and participate in annual budget process.
  • To coordinate referrals to the services and allocation of case workers as appropriate.
  • To ensure the maintenance of appropriate records of work and statistical information.
  • To be vigilant to any health, safety and welfare risks in the workplace and bring any concerns to the attention of your line manager or Health & Safety Representative.
  • To report child protection concerns in line with Focus Ireland's Child Safeguarding Policy.
  • To engage in supervision sessions on a regular basis with the Head of Family Services.
  • To prepare regular monthly project reports and any other reports as requested by line management.
  • To participate in project reviews and evaluations and to implement any changes arising from such work.
  • To be available for the on-call service and to monitor its use and effectiveness and to be part of the development of the on-call service as the project develops.

What you will need:

  • A relevant Third Level qualification at degree level i.e., social care, psychology, sociology.
  • Excellent working knowledge of services available to families experiencing homelessness.
  • Minimum of 2-4 years relevant management experience.
  • An understanding and/or experience of working with families who have experienced homelessness

  • Excellent working knowledge of services available to families experiencing homelessness.
